I
met Alice in '90 or '91 through a mutual friend.
She was unlike anyone I had met before or since,
for that matter. At that time, Alice could be described
as eccentric and reclusive. She worked out of her
home doing freelance graphic design and had little
contact with people outside of clients.
I
found her to be quite refreshing and thought it
was pretty cool that she was eccentric and reclusive
because in addition to those traits, Alice was also
very kind, generous, talented, and great fun to
be around. It was obvious that her soul ran deep.
She
dreamed of giving up her lucrative graphic design
business to focus exclusively on painting. One day,
her dream came true. It's a tragedy that she died
before she could paint more, but she did get to
have her own show in 2003. In the end, Alice was
not alone. She had developed a wonderful support
group of friends, and for that, I am forever grateful.
